15 Apr Denver One Water – Citywide water planning
As part of the Denver One Water planning effort, a survey was recently conducted to better understand community perspectives regarding the management of our citywide water resources.
Nearly 800 people completed the survey from late 2020 through early 2021. This input provided valuable insight into what the community would like to see as outcomes of the One Water Plan. Key survey findings include:
- More than 72% are worried about the water future of the metro area
- The biggest concern is climate change, cited by 35% of respondents, followed by growth (24.4%) and drought (23.7%)
- A clear majority (55%) think a One Water Plan can help improve our water future for the metro area, and 62% would like to see Denver move forward with the One Water Plan
- More education is needed: Nearly 41% were unsure if a One Water approach could help improve our water future, underscoring a desire to know more
The full survey results are available on the project website and will be shared at the next community workshop – a joint meeting with the One Water Advisory Group – later this spring to present and gather input on the draft Denver One Water Plan.
