GIFFORD APPOINTED TO PLANNING BOARD–Long-time LoDoNA Board Member and past President Shannon Gifford was recently appointed by Mayor Hickenlooper to a three-year term on the 11- member Denver Planning Board. Among the Board’s duties are to review and make recommendations to City Council regarding the City’s comprehensive plan, neighborhood or district plans, and zoning map and language changes. Asked to comment on this new venture, Shannon said, “with the current proposal to rezone the entire city, this is an exciting time to be joining the Planning Board.”
Almost Full Circle With Spill
July 1st, 2009Spill’s roof top patio is now permitted to be open at all times when liquor can be served as the result of an agreement recently entered into with LoDoNA. What had the makings of a saga began when Spill, located at 1410 Market, applied for authorization from Excise and License to add a roof top patio to its licensed premises. When LoDoNA sought to negotiate a Good Neighbor Agreement, Spill declined. The matter went to hearing, and Spill’s request was denied. Some time later, Spill approached LoDoNA and indicated that it wanted to revisit the roof top issue and would enter into a GNA. Because of concerns about noise and other issues, LoDoNA insisted that the rooftop close at 12:00 am on weekends and 11:00 pm Sunday through Thursday. Spill agreed, and its renewed request to E&L was approved. Based on Spill’s good performance under this agreement, LoDoNA agreed a year later to extend the opening hours by one hour. In June, 2009, LoDoNA agreed to Spill’s request to remove all restrictions, provided that LoDoNA may unilaterally require that they be reimposed in the event of disciplinary action against Spill by E&L or information which LoDoNA believes merits a return to restricted hours. Hopefully that won’t occur.
