Manny Salzman. Manny's Bridge. A Younger Guy Couldn't Do This!
Manny Salzman is a Denver Icon. 95 years young. He also has a bridge he'd like you to know about! Manny's Bridge crosses Cherry Creek at the end of Wynkoop Street. Manny and Joanne led the campaign to keep those historic railroad bridges in LoDo. Since 2009, Manny's Bridge has been the site of LoDo Lights, a contemporary interactive light art installation that delights every nocturnal pedestrian. We're celebrating both - Manny's Birthday and Manny's Bridge! No gifts for Manny, please. He's had enough! But, contributions for LoDo Lights are welcome to fund the restoration and onward maintenance of the bridge lights, and further development of Public/Private art in the Historic District. All contributions go to LoDo Lights and are tax deductible. Manny likes the idea of a "buck a year"... that's $95 ... for his 95 years. But, ANY amount is welcome. You can contribute on eventbrite when you register by choosing an increment of $19 to give - 5 increments is $95! Or you can mail in a check to LoDoNA with LoDo Lights in the memo line to 1720 Wynkoop Street #100, Denver, CO, 80202.
Come and enjoy, make a toast to Manny...and help light up the night! LoDo Lights is a public art installation, curated by Diane Huntress, designed by artist Virginia Folkestad, funded through contributions of people in the neighborhood and by the City and County of Denver Arts and Venues, and maintained by the Lower Downtown Neighborhood Association.
A bridge that's 105 years old. Named after a young guy of 95. Come celebrate both! Please register and/or donate at this link: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/come-celebrate-a-95th-birthdayand-a-bridge-registration-9401541263
